Grounded Design for Elevated Learning at UC Law SF
San Francisco, CA
As part of the UC Law San Francisco campus transformation, Andrea Cochran Landscape Architecture (ACLA) designed a refined outdoor experience across the central quad and rooftop terrace, using a modern, minimalist palette and specified durable products from Tournesol.
Custom and standard Wilshire GFRC Rectangle Planters, featuring a Sandblast texture and Shadow color, define key outdoor areas and were installed by Brightview Landscape Development. Some feature integrated Wally benches or custom, cantilevered counters, encouraging gathering, study, and informal conversations in shaded, landscaped areas. On the rooftop, a custom raised fire pit in powder-coated steel anchors a cozy outdoor lounge framed by planters and seating.
Bioretention Planters are integrated to support sustainable stormwater management, and 1,600 square feet of VersiCell Drainage Panels, located beneath all planters, ensure proper water management and protect the integrity of the underlying surfaces of the courtyard.
Tournesol’s versatile planters and site furnishings support ACLA’s clean, structured design vision, bringing greenery, functionality, and welcoming to this vibrant extension of the UC Law San Francisco campus.
