A Healing Terrace at Honickman Center

Philadelphia, PA

The Jefferson Health Honickman Center in Philadelphia, PA, is a 19-story medical facility consolidating over a dozen specialty practices, and was designed by Architects from Ennead and Stantec. On the 15th floor, a serene rooftop terrace—led by Andropogon Associates with landscape contractor Sean’s Landscaping—offers patients, visitors, and staff a peaceful retreat.

Lush greenery and sustainable materials create a calming space. Steel Kitsap Modular Planter Walls create natural partitions, filled with native and adaptive plants that enhance air quality and reduce noise. The vibrant foliage, including ornamental grasses and flowering perennials, provides a refreshing escape and enhances the tranquil atmosphere.

Integrated, custom Wally Bench seating, made of thermally modified hardwood, blends seamlessly with the planters providing ample, durable seating for guests to unwind and take in a view of the city skyline. Honickman Center's biophilic terrace design promotes relaxation, patient recovery, and staff well-being, reinforcing the connection between green spaces and wellness.
