Roofdeck Terraces, Boulevard Wood Planters & Sweeping Views
Berkeley, CA
Located in West Berkeley near the waterfront sits the Aquatic Ashby, a six-story residential complex. The recently completed apartment development brings new energy to the area’s evolving urban landscape while remaining sensitive to the character of the surrounding neighborhood.
In a collaborative effort between JETT Landscape Architecture + Design, Trachtenberg Architects, and QLM, Inc., two rooftop garden terraces were designed to offer residents and guests inviting outdoor spaces with stunning views of the San Francisco Bay and East Bay Hills. These rooftop decks are framed by Tournesol’s Boulevard commercial-grade planters, which line the perimeter with sustainable greenery. The planters, available in rectangular and square shapes, feature a refined blend of durable fiberglass and warm wood cladding. Each planter includes a fiberglass liner that protects the wood from moisture, extending both its life and natural beauty.
With these thoughtfully designed roof deck terraces, Aquatic Ashby not only adds much-needed housing to Berkeley, but also promotes sustainability and elevates the urban living experience.
