Parking in Bloom! Greenscreen® at NY Botanical Garden's Gateway

Just steps from the entrance to the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx, a striking transformation welcomes visitors: a massive parking structure reimagined as a vertical garden. Designed in collaboration with Ennead Architects and DESMAN Associates, Greenscreen® helped turn urban infrastructure into a vibrant, living gateway.

Triangular façade sections, designed to mimic branching plant forms, feature Greenscreen trellis panels precisely fitted into precast openings. Infilled trellis panels create a lush, green envelope that connects the structure to the Garden's larger campus. The infilled trellises grow on all four sides of the garage with flowering vines, softening the structure and visually extending the Garden's campus.

This project demonstrates the versatility of Greenscreen beyond flat surfaces, creating a textured, green landscape that brings nature into the urban environment while blending innovative sustainability, artistry, and urban design.
